Puerto Ibañez to continue along the mythical route 40
to the unknown Perito Moreno National Park, very often mistaken
with the Glacier of the same name, which is surrounded by mountains
and beautiful lakes that make it a majestic natural amphitheater,
that provides a magnificent sample of the flora and fauna of
the Patagonia, and also has rock carvings of thousands of ages
ago, After crossing forgotten Argentinean Estancias or sheep
farms, which were for a time an important factor in the economy
of the country , we will be able to see marvelous views of Mount
Fitz Roy.
Continuing along route 40 to the well situated town Calafate,
we will visit the Glaciares National Park, where the imposing
Perito Moreno Glacier stands out, we will finally return to
Chile via Cerro Castillo to visit the well known Torres del
Paine National Park. We will be able to enjoy the majestic views
of the Macizos del Paine, carved millions of years ago in the
last glaciations.
In the park we will go for a series of treks for you to see
the Lenga forests, and animals such as Guanacos, Foxes, Huemules
and also birds such as the Ñandú and the Condor.
Later, we will visit the Milodon Cave where a prehistoric animal
which has been extinct for millions of years was found .
Our trip then finishes in Chile´s southernmost city, Punta
Arenas, which has a slight European air. This city was most
important when the Magellan Straights were the only passage
between the two oceans, before the construction of the Panama
Canal.
